Scottsdale AZ Tourist Attractions to Visit in the Winter

With a bright sky and temperatures averaging 72 degrees from December through mid-February, winter is the ideal time to visit Scottsdale, Arizona. Scottsdale features a variety of great winter activities that will help you remember your vacation for years to come. Here’s a list of the best winter activities in and around the Scottsdale area.

Experience Scottsdazzle
During this yearly, month-long event, the holidays come to life in Scottsdale-style. From Thanksgiving weekend through New Year’s Day, Scottdazzle festivities include the official Tree Lighting, Canal Concerts, Sugar Plum Avenue, Scottsdazzle ArtWalk, Santa Wine-Around, and the Sweet Treat Trail. Scottsdazzle is the holiday event to go to if you want to spend the holidays with spectacular views, Christmas lights, and an overall fantastic vibe.

Holiday Lights at Railroad Park
Scottsdale’s Parks & Recreation Department manages the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. The 30-acre park, located in the middle of Scottsdale, Arizona, is the country’s most distinctive park of its type. Ride the Paradise & Pacific Railroad or the 1950s Allan Herschell carousel. Visit the stores and museums, play on the playgrounds or play areas, or rest on the grass beneath a tree in Scottsdale’s most beautiful park. During the winter, the park installs thousands of lights along the park’s railroad lines to create a mobile light show. This is a great family-friendly activity that you should not miss while in town.

Las Noches de las Luminarias
During the Christmas season, the paths of the Desert Botanical Garden are illuminated with over 8,000 hand-lit luminarias and thousands of dazzling white lights. The mood is enhanced by live entertainment, hot chocolate, and mulled cider. The Botanical Garden is stunning on its own, but when lined with hundreds of handcrafted luminarias, it becomes a must-see attraction.

The Phoenix ZooLights
More is always better when it comes to holiday lights, and ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo sparkles with a three-story Christmas tree, millions of lights in imaginative animal-shaped displays, and the new Wildlife Lantern Safari. Which has more than 60 creatures all aglow! Every year, the zoo is carefully decorated with a magnificent show of lights, statues, and animals that elevates your typical zoo visit to a festive level. The lights are visible throughout the day, but the zoo transforms into an incredible sight to see at night. We love to get a nice cup of coffee and wander about the festive paradise that is this magnificent winter wonderland.

Off-Roading Adventures in the Beautiful Desert
Off-road tours by Jeep, Hummer, or Tomcar allow you to see the harsh beauty of the Sonoran Desert in the winter. As you bounce around rough-and-tumble pathways and sandy desert washes, the desert becomes your playground. Keep your eyes peeled for desert animals such as javelina, Gambel’s quail, wild horses, and birds of prey. Desert Dog Offroad offers excellent adventures, whether you’re an adventure addict or interested in southwestern history and culture. You will create adrenaline-filled memories, whether it’s a guided two-person ATV U-Drive Sand Buggy Tour or a Private U-Drive Jeep Driving Adventure. In addition, there are excursions for couples, families, business groups, and bachelor and bachelorette parties.
